SPIDER LILY is a one woman opera written, composed, and performed by myself. The opera is in progress and will be completed in 2023.

 

The opera follows a woman, Sheya, who was born in the forest with no known origin. The world found her and, intrigued by her mysterious origins, forced her into a restrictive life as an empress in a palace on the shore. Each night, Sheya sings longingly to a mysterious red glow in the ocean across from her palace. One night, the red glow comes to her in dream--a giant red spider lily blooming in the middle of the ocean--and tells her that it can liberate her senses, creativity, and body. Sheya leaves her palace behind and sails to the spider lily, only to discover that she herself is the spider lily and that she must reincarnate back into the flower in order to achieve liberation.
